Not everyone plans for their death, especially if it’s unexpected. Estate planning is important for everyone and not just the wealthy. Even celebrities sometimes procrastinate from completing their estate plans. Another issue celebrities may deal with is property in more than one state or in other countries. Celebrities or public figures may be better served by having a Trust instead of a Will to avoid their financial affairs being public and sustain privacy.
WHAT IF AN INDIVIDUAL DOES HAVE AN ESTATE PLAN BUT FAILED TO ADDRESS ASSETS FROM OTHER STATES OR COUNTRIES?
It means that the estate information and any probate litigation may become a part of public scrutiny. The estate information exposure may have been avoided by a well thought out and well planned Trust instrument(s) depending on the size of the estate and location of the assets.
